My name is Kevin and I was born in 1971 in south Mississippi. By the time I was 8 years old I could already tell that I was a little bit different. So I was taken to multiple doctors where I was diagnosed with ADHD. This diagnose would stick for the next 11 years.
Growing Up Bipolar
As I stated, I was diagnosed with ADHD as a young kind. I really went wild through my teen years and my parents just chalked it up to the ADHD. I had my first drink when I was 15 and fell in love with alcohol. The next few years just got wilder and I am also addicted to alcohol. This went on until I was about 27 years old.
The Day I Was Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder
When I was 27 I also noticed that I was suffering with depression as well as mania. My mind could not take it anymore so I decided to end it all. I cant say what I did on here but it has to do with a bullet and my head. Miraculous I survived and that night a doctor diagnosed with with bipolar disorder.
Where I’m at Today
After many years of in and out of psych hospitals and countless medications, I finally found the medicines that work. The medications along with therapy have saved my life and I have not had an episode in over 10 years. Stay strong because you can beat this thing called bipolar disorder.
